About Northants Haunted
So how did we get started?
The simple answer is that the first members of the group all work together and found that we had a common interest and decided to undertake our first investigation. This was a very basic visit, but since then we have progressed and the team has grown to a regular number all of whom have their own abilities and experience to make our investigations more productive and successful.
We use an array of equipment that we have collected and bought for the purpose over the last two years. This includes some electronic gadgetry that aids our activity detection.
What do we find?
When we are investigating a location we use an array of equipment. We use digital still photography to capture any light anomalies, called orbs. These can be stationary or in the case of the photo on the home page, a moving orb.
We also use infra red night vision cameras to record the nights activities which can later be transferred to DVD format. This is especially exciting if we capture any moving orbs. We now have a professional wired night vision CCTV system for high quality, as well as a standalone wireless infra red camera that we can capture on a laptop. This gives us the capability to record remote rooms.
Sound is something else that can be recorded electronically. This is in the format of EVP ( Electronic Voice Phenomenon) which is inaudible to the human ear at the time but can be played back at increased volume later on. For this we use digital voice recorders which we can either have with us at the time or leave to record on their own. We also use a laser thermometer, an EMF meter for measuring electro magnetic fields, which can fluctuate around paranormal activity. We take base readings of a room or location on our arrival and then take further readings through the evening and especially around any activity. We are now also using a digital barometer, which can measure drops in barometric pressure in a room, especially useful for predicting activity, as this pressure drops just beforehand. We are always looking to improve and acquire new equipment to make our visits more accurate and evidential. The actual initial investigation is only the start. Once we have finished we have to examine all the footage that we have collected.
