The King Billy Northampton
Weather: Clear, outside temperature 1 degree C
Start time 20:00 hours.
This was our first visit to the King William Public House in Northampton town centre. The pub is locally known as the King Billy. Originally the site was a brewery and then public house.
We started the evening with the usual familiarisation of the building. We were grateful to having the full run of the property, consisting of the two floors and additional basement.
This building is very close to the site where local hangings were carried out, which makes it all the more interesting.
Base readings of the EMF meter were taken, the usual base reading being around 0.2 to 0.4 other than the fluctuations around any electrical equipment. This is always to be expected.
The lights were then turned off and we changed to night vision. Our initial séance started after our usual protection routine, something that we never commence an investigation without. This disclosed some information that stated there were six spirits frequenting the property, and the initials J G were given to us. After losing contact in this initial séance on the middle floor, some of the group went down to the cellar whilst four of us remained upstairs in the main corridor, where an elderly lady has been seen. We were astounded when our séance there spelt out the word “ WELCOME” to us. This spirit stated that she died in 1728 aged 58. We asked her for her name which she spelt out as Jakqhalelcm, but bearing in mind the date that she went back to it could account for the spelling. She stated that she was there because she was looking for a loved one.
A later séance in the old part of the main bar disclosed a male that died in 1914. He mentioned the war ( We take this to be the first world war). He also mentioned the number 5, but we have no idea what the significance is to this. He also spelt out the letters EOSTA. So if anyone has any idea’s what this means, please let us know.
A video clip of an orb captured on our first seance can be seen here.
We again broke into two groups, four of us going down the cellar ( where the fire alarm is frequently activated for no reason ) whilst the remainder of the group conducted a séance in the main bar upstairs. We kept in contact with our radio link.
At 2210 hours the séance group in the bar asked the spirit to activate the fire alarm. Guess what? We were not disappointed. Very shortly after the alarm was activated. After our very fast departure we checked where the activation was, strangely enough it was the cellar again.
Our final séance of the night contacted a male by the name of George who lived from 1920 to 1949. He had 7 children and was married to a Welsh lady. He also has a relative who apparently still drinks in the pub. We think he likes the pub and is happy to still frequent it.
Our conclusion for the night was that we had made contact and got some useful information from it. We believe the spirits who frequent the building are mostly of a good and positive nature, a comforting thought for those that reside there. No items were moved during our investigation so no poltergeist activity was recorded. The night vision video footage is still to be analysed. Numerous orbs were caught on stills footage, as can be seen from the photo’s posted here.
Our investigation concluded at 23:30 hours.
